In my view, Obama is the perfect person to succeed George W. Bush.

One of the first things Bush did as POTUS was to send the word out that he wasn't a big reader.

And of course, when he received that August 6 PDB entitled "bin Laden Determined to Strike Within the United States," he told the CIA person briefing him "You've covered your ass now." In other words....go about your business. I have no time for this.

I see that same trait in Obama, particulary with his missed Senate votes, and the recent revelation that he's missed over 80% of the Senate votes.

His handlers are defending his decision not to bother voting at all on the Mukasey nomination, by saying the vote won't be close, so Obama's vote isn't needed.

NEWSFLASH: It isn't about whether or not Obama could make a difference in the outcome if he were to vote.

The issue is that he, as a United States Senator, should want to be on the Congressional Record as having voted NO on Mukasey. As a Senator, your votes tell a lot about who you are. And if he is really that concerned about Mukasey, Obama should want to history books to be able to record him as having VOTED NO on the nomination.
