My Thanksgiving with Bush-loving relatives.

Like many of you, I spent Thanksgiving tolerating a couple of Bush-loving relatives who were there along with all the sane people. And I just can’t comprehend what goes on in their minds. Do they have defective genes? Are they an evolutionary mistake? Have pods snatched their bodies and replaced them? Beats me.

Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that their parents were Nixon supporters even after that nut job was thrown out of the White House. Are stupidity and/or madness hereditary? (Concerning Nixon, the proof that the man was anal retentive is that photo of him walking on a beach in wingtips.)

It’s hard to enjoy a day where you have to bite your tongue to keep the peace. They spouted their mindless talking points at every opportunity while I tried to make small talk about how much I loved the wallpaper.

And almost as disturbing were the relatives who pay no attention to today’s world and don’t even recognize the name Karl Rove. They are mostly older and lived through WWII. Yet, they were clueless as to the current cloud of fascism being cast over them. However, it was neither the time nor place to “educate” them, assuming that would even be possible.

So how did you make out with any brain-dead relatives this Thanksgiving?
