When Libertarians Attack
Advertisements [?]
It turns out that the editor and sole reporter for our local weekly is a member of "The Free State Project". The FSP is a group of hard-core libertarians who moved to New Hampshire with the goal of turning it into some sort of Ayn Randian utopia. Basically, these are the sort of folks who think that Ron Paul is the ultimate arbiter of truth and wisdom.

Well, it turns out that our local journalist maintains a personal blog on the side. On this blog, he has a post in which he calls Social Security "a fraud" and "a Ponzi scheme". This is to go along with the links to a group pushing the Obama-isn't-a-citizen nonsense and a cartoon that shows a liberal's brain with a hammer and sickle imposed on it.

I pointed out these side projects on a NH Democratic blog. It took a day or two, but the reporter signed up as a member and commenced lecturing me about how inappropriate it was for me to take him to task.

Irony is not the Free Stater's strong suit.

Look, I don't care if someone is a libertarian. I think they're dead wrong, but that's just my opinion. But if you want to work as a journalist, you have to act differently.
