At least some of them are people to whom the whole notion of legitimate reasons to question government authority is practically a brand-new experience, something that was kicked-off by vague suspicions of how they were lied into supporting the killing of 1,000,000 people who didn't NEED killing and then that suspicion was subsequently strongly reinforced by the financial crisis the U.S. finds itself in now. Many don't even know that the Invasion and Occupation of Iraq was off budget.

Some people ARE deliberately ignorant, because it serves a purpose, others are starting to recognize how ignorant they are and they find themselves in a situation in which that ignorance no longer serves the function it used to fill.
