23. I disagree.
For you to state that the fact that she was out means that the school wasn't homophobic is a ridiculous leap of logic. From what I've seen of the girl, she's very brave. I don't know how much harassment she's received for being a lesbian, but I wouldn't doubt if she received a lot of it.

With regard to ticket policy, that's a complete red herring because she never refused to buy a separate ticket.

With regard to the dress code, courts had already specified that she couldn't legally be turned away from the prom. So because these idiots couldn't get what they wanted through legal means, they had to trick a girl who had already gone through a ridiculous amount of hell so she couldn't get to her prom. That's what this boils down to. Because these morons couldn't get what they wanted through the law, they had to be pathetic sons of bitches and trick the girl.

As for the classmates, if they truly didn't want to be labeled homophobic, perhaps they could have found one amongst them who would have done the honorable thing and tell her about the prom ruse. The fact that none stood up and did the right thing tells me that they were, in fact, very homophobic.
