Glenda Jackson has pulled off a shock victory in Hampstead and Kilburn - with a majority of just 42.

Ms Jackson, who has been MP of former constituency Hampstead and Highgate since 1992, fought back tears as the result was declared.

A recount was called at 7am by Conservative candidate Chris Philp, who was Ms Jackson's nearest rival.

The final result was eventually called at 8.15am.
