The best opportunities come to people who are willing to be mobile. One downside to consider is that once you leave the US, there are fewer companies who will fly you in for interviews. I battle this bias with my university because its not that much different to fly someone from Europe or Mexico to the SE USA than the west coast. Nevertheless, my people often balk at international applications.
