"That most people still don't 'get' this, what this means for us and the lives we live, is a never ending source of amazement."


The first being reality is too much of a shock so remaining in subconscious denial is easier.

The second for those people; who are consciously aware pertains to the same motivation as that of the traitor to the group.

I don't remember the exact quote but it went something like.

"I know this isn't steak, but it tastes like steak."
