they are trying to "buy" people off, for instance, a man told me that some of his friends had registered their boats to assist in the effort, and while their boats are on stand-by and not even being used, they're being paid $1,200 a day just to sit on stand-by

that's pay-off money, pure and simple

not that i blame people for taking it, their way of life is being wiped out, they need to grab what they can while they can

the families of the 11 who were killed will be first in line, i'm sure, some of those guys were young or in the prime of life, just lost income from say the 21 year old alone, projected lifetime earnings from working in the oil industry, will be huge...these guys had kids and wives that are not gonna let this die...
