7. Just...for me the people who have gotten to the tops of these predatory corporations...
...strike me as liars, and I mean world-class liars, though and through. It wasn't the omen, if you want to call it that, it was just an inadvertent reminder to me how many subcommittee hearings I've watched, how many CEO's have testified (among others) and how so many of them lied through their teeth- and looked like genuinely good folks doing it. That's really what it was. I wasn't trying to be pessimistic but I'd just finished reading some of the accounts given to the government from the survivors about how a BP exec basically pulled rank and the drill team followed his orders and they died for it.

Maybe I am being cynical but damnit, I really worry about a press conference where this dude sprays Fabreeze on a partially drugged pelican, wipes the simulated oil off a wing and just-as-genuinely says "See, BP cares." I've seen so much of that in the past and the accountability for these major corporations seems to be inversely proportional to the grievousness of their infractions.
