Once again the White Hose Press team has diplayed the worst tin ear that I have ever seen displayed by a professional political organization, particularly one with almost limitless funds at its disposal. In one week this PR team has managed to present what appears to be an extremely unfounded optimistic appraisal of the situation in the Gulf without any corroborating data, and patronize all those who ask for such, while fisherman in the region continue to warn us we shouldn't eat the fish. Axelrod reiterated that the President does NOT support Gay Marriage right in the midst of the celebration of the overturn of Prop 8 in California! They did nothing to tone down an expensive trip of the First Lady's as unemployment benefits are being questioned in a recession shocked nation. The team initially jump to the support of the firing of Shirley Sherrod without any due diligence researching an available speech, and now, once again, this time officially, through the mouth of Gibbs, refer to anyone demanding broader change as "crazy and needing to be "drug tested" in an eerie echo of the COS Emmanuel's earlie reference to the left as "f***inf retards" in an earlier gaffe that still resonates with many people.
I have never, ever seen such a terrible inability to convey any kind of positive message by any other press team. I really question the alleged "liberal approval numbers. Those can't include teachers and they sure no longer include the unions, who have joined in a march on Washington.(And I have yet, thank god, to have seen a WH reaction the THAT) For all those that bitch about MSM and their coverage, I can only say that the WH has an ongoing job to not directly hand the Press ammo to use against them. That is a huge part of image control. You can't keep outright giving the media "gifts" and expect them not to use it to sell soap.
Month ago, I suggested that this entire team, including Gibbs be replaced. I am repeating that call again today. It is just amazing to me that the same people who managed to use the media to such advantage during the 2008 elections don't seem to have a clue how to manage their image once in office. It seems as if the president has allowed the 20 something who sends out his twitters to have complete control over his Admins image. This is a bad state of affairs . Twitter boy needs to be demoted and they need to hire some real pros who realize that their is a world outside of DC filled with people who are experiencing real pain and loss who feel their issues are not being addressed. Those in the bubble will not be the ones making the decisions on election day.I suggest every effort be made to address the issues of the real Americans before that bubble bursts.
