Daja Briggs was never so scared in her life.

She spoke softly, recounting how two large pit bulls attacked her and a friend on their way home from school, and how they wouldn't stop biting.

The attack Monday afternoon seriously injured Daja and her friend Japrice Green, both 12.

Daja stayed home from school Tuesday. She was on pain medication, both of her feet heavily wrapped in gauze. She needed three stitches on her right foot and ankle and one on the left foot. Several puncture marks were visible on her hands.

The dogs were confiscated Tuesday night near 37th and Blondo Streets and quarantined, said Mark Langan, vice president of field operations for the Nebraska Humane Society.

Langan said one is a boxer-pit bull mix, while the other is a pit bull mix. He said authorities had not yet confirmed who owns the dogs.
