My hope is that this August recess serves as an "intervention". That they all go home and get a good reaming, and spine stiffening, from their constituents. They need to see how mad their own supporters are.

And they need to do something about that.

Your analogy is spot on. And after a while, not only do you lose respect, but you can no longer bear to watch.
