Regarding misspelled words
Advertisements [?]
I know it's funny to go to freeperville and make fun of the misspelled words and to come back here and laugh about it. Some of the mistakes are quite funny to me, too.

However, there are A LOT of misspelled words here ("Check Spelling" anyone?), words used incorrectly, and certainly quite a bit of improper usage that are genuine mistakes by posters here at DU.

Nobody is perfect, and mistakes are to be expected. But when people purposely misspell words, the joke is lost on a lot of the readers. One example that comes to mind is, "HUGH!!" How do we know that you didn't just misspell that word rather than spell it that way to ridicule freepers?

Perhaps I am overly sensitive to the misspelling and improper usage, but it happens enough on its own, that adding misspelled words simply as an inside joke may not always work IMHO. I worry that these inside jokes may make some of the posters here look ignorant, especially to people who are new to this site, or to the media that often looks at this site.

Obviously people will continue to do this if they think it's funny, but keep in mind that a lot of people are reading these words. Just my two cents, or maybe my HUGH!! two cents.

Flame if you want to, but I just really needed to post this.
