KJV Genesis 2:18

And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.

NIV Genesis 2:18

The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

Not exactly the wording to use for a wife.

Or how about what follows after the verse?

KJV Genesis 2:19-20

And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
(20) And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a help meet for him.

NIV Genesis 2:19-20

Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
(20) So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found.

God thought that one of the animals would be a help meet (helper) for Adam? That suggests that bestiality would be okay.
