two of the fourteen Democrats in the 24-member New Hampshire
Senate.

In a squeaker earlier in the year, marriage equality passed
the New Hampshire General Court (our "House"), but two Brave
Sir Robins in the Senate will be running away yet again since
"the time isn't right".

It's also likely our allegedly-Democratic governor would have
also vetoed this but we'll never known now.

Gay marriage: This one won't be consummated unless supporters
can turn a "no'' vote now into a "yes."

Sen. Beth Reynolds, D-Plymouth, sealed its fate with her decision
Thursday to come out in favor of killing the bill (HB 436).

Sen. Betsi DeVries, D-Manchester, has told associates she, too,
can't go along with it right now.

If all 10 Republicans stay put – and that looks to be a given –
then you can't count to 13 to get any version of the bill through.

What will be fascinating to see is how many Senate Democrats
cast their lot with the bill because they believe it's the
right thing to do, and their constituents, in the main, are
fine with that.

The hard number of "yes'' votes in the Senate Democratic caucus
was six to eight, depending on the day you took the temperature.
