Maddy, short for Madeline, is a realistic name for a girl in New Orleans in the 1920s. Tiana was not a name common enough to even show up in the census lists until the 1970s. It is a common modern African-American name, but it's about (and by about I mean exactly, given the popularity curves of the two names) as anachronistic as if they were to make the Frog Prince's name Deshawn.
