The Rage and Fury of Millions of Ordinary Rightists...water cooler, talk radio, etc

Did anyone listen AM talk radio today? It was thrilling to hear Rush, Hanninty, and Beck freaking out and melting down. They were talking about "the death of America", "the nd of the republic"...talking as if it were 1938 and the tanks had just rolled into Poland.

Now it's easy to dismiss Beck and company as nut-jobs and propagandists for the rich, but what about all the water cooler talk at workplaces today? My job takes me into several different companies per day, and everywhere I heard many people outraged that this "horrible tyranny" had been "slammed down on the American people".

And people who I consider pretty much "regular", "normal", "adjusted", (but politically misguided) people were talking about uprisings, including not subtle hints at extreme violence.

How can this be? Is it simply extremely effective propaganda? It has reached even those who do not watch Fox news or listen to talk radio.

Can anyone explain this mass popular uprising against what should be (and what was, according to many polls) a widely popular idea?
