1. Rossi has lost twice and will lose again. His BIG ego can't take another bruising like that.
The Republics don't have anyone to run against Murray. If they did, it could be trouble, but they don't. Cornyn wants Rossi because he's the only one with name recognition.

Truly, all the Dems would have to do is show some of Rossi's ridiculous old campaign commercials to ruin him. Washington State isn't Texas or Arizona or Florida. In fact, I half wish Rossi would run so it would suck up some of the Republic resources. Of course, all the old beasts would emerge from the woodwork again: The Seattle Times would show their true colors (deep red), McCaw would show his deep pockets, Tim Eyeman would get his little woody going again, the neo-nazis would emerge from the forests, the Glen Beckers would rise from the ashes (he was born here). But, I don't think they could pull it off. And if it meant helping out the rest of the country by us taking on this battle, we're up to the challenge.

After all, unlike Maria Cantwell, who has a spotty track record, Patty Murray has been a loyal progressive supporter all these many years with only a few exceptions.
