11. At some point, the candidates will have to make a statement on their "birther" stance. So far,
Santorum, Romney and Pawlenty have openly stated that they thought the President was born in Hawaii. The others like Huckabee, Gingrich and the rest have used the "culture of Kenya" angle suggesting Obama was born there. It seems that some states will be more "birther" than others, so if SC, IA, NH, and other early primary states are big birthers, it could stop people like Romney, Huntsman and Pawlenty. Huntsman is probably a non-starter since he is not a crazy enough and not spitting hate like their base requires in their candidates.
