Mother's Day should be about nannies?

Well, maybe for Amy Poehler (and I don't blame her for having nannies). But the vast preponderance of American women do not have nannies. And while mother's certainly celebrate the workers who tend to their children at day care while they are at work, why choose Mother's Day to celebrate them? At this point, it means that there is no meaning to the word "mother."

On another level, if you watched Modern Family this week, it had a hysterical (and righteous) segment on Cam being incensed at being treated as the "mother" in his gay parenting relationship.

Maybe we should just drop Mother's Day (and Father's Day). Me, I'd like some perfume.
