Powell: Obama 'blew away' Trump and his 'birthers'

Colin Powell, the Republican Secretary of State, made news in 2008 when he endorsed Barack Obama, and now he's making news for his comments Friday about one of President Obama's fiercest critics: Donald Trump.

Namely, how Obama "blew away" Trump and others who challenged Obama's U.S. citizenship by producing his "long form" birth certificate.

During his commencement address at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, S.C., Powell cited the recent string of news: The royal wedding, the beatification of Pope John Paul II, and the killing of "the worst person on earth," Osama bin Laden.

But the retired general and George W. Bush administration official confessed he had a favorite event: "That was when President Obama took out his birth certificate and blew away Donald Trump and all the birthers!"
