The wife of my former sensei (who is also a black belt) was victim of an attempted mugging.
She dropped him with a stomp on the foot to shock him and then a kick to the knee, breaking his leg.
I'd use that any day over a groin kick. That you can recover from or ignore if waaay strung out. Can't run on a broken leg.
(Makes me queasy even thinking about)
