13. 1973 until present
In 1973 medical insurance through your employer was like a throw in with every job.

That was back when unions were setting the pattern for everyone.

Then people stopped supporting unions in America and let non-union companies begin setting the pattern for everyone and medical insurance through your employer became pretty much obsolete.

Same thing happened with guaranteed pensions.
