Swedish police uncovered CIA operation

Agenter från USA har under falsk täckmantel spanat mot terrorister på svensk mark. Amerikanerna ertappades på bar gärning av Säpo. Sverige protesterade mot underrättelsetjänsten CIA och amerikanerna lämnade hastigt landet. Händelsen har hållits topphemlig.

När Usama bin Ladin spårades upp och dödades i Pakistan för av USA för tre veckor sedan så skedde det utan att Pakistan informerades. SvD kan idag avslöja att USA också spanat mot terrorister på svensk mark. Sverige har alltså blivit scen för främmande makts terroristjakt, utan den svenska regeringens vetskap.

Detta ska inte förväxlas med den fasta övervakningsenhet vid USA:s Stockholmsambassad som blev känd i höstas, eller med läckta diplomatrapporter från Wikileaks.

Vad SvD idag kan presentera är istället hittills helt okända uppgifter om olovlig amerikansk underrättelseverksamhet som bedrivits i Sverige. Den uppdagades av svensk säkerhetspolis för två år sedan, första halvåret 2009. ap.

Agents from the USA has under false cover been conducting counter terrorism operations on Swedish ground. The Americans were caught red handed by Säpo (Swedish Security Police). Sweden protested against the CIA and the Americans immediately fled the country. The incident has been held classified.

When Osama Bin Laden was tracked down and killed in Pakistan by the US three weeks ago it happened without Pakistan being informed. SvD can today unveil that the US also did operations on Swedish ground. Sweden has become the stage for a foreign power's hunt for terrorists, without the knowledge of the Swedish government.

This should not be confused with the normal surveillance unit at the US embassy in Stockholm that was uncovered this fall, or with leaked documents obtained through wikileaks.

What SvD can present today is so far completely unknown information about illegal American intelligance operations in Sweden. It was discovered by Swedish security police two years ago, in the first half of 2009.
