As Americans, we pride ourselves on our abilities to make choices. It is as American as apple pie.
We choose what cars we want to drive. We choose what we want to eat. We choose what schools we want to attend. We choose which political Party we wish to join. Etc...
As a nation, we have come to a crossroads. We must make some critical choices for our future. Do we choose to continue to spend our revenues on a military spread worldwide or do we choose to spend it on our citizens that are now reaching retirement age? Do we continue to dish out corporate welfare or do we provide healthcare for our elderly? Do we open up more military bases or do we open up more health clinics?
Do we continue to let the wealthy pay little or no taxes or do we ask them to pay more? Do we ask those that are able to pull a little more weight? Do we provide education for our children or do we provide comfort to the most wealthy in our society? Those are choices we are going to have to make.
It is incumbent upon the Democratic Party to make those distinctions. It is not enough to take the safe position and not take a stand. It is time to choose a side. Let the Republicans choose where they want the country to go and let the Democrats choose their way. It should not be muddled. It should not be ambiguous. The people should have a clear choice.
