Davie man facing animal cruelty charge for killing prairie dog with a kick

A pet prairie dog is dead and its owner, who wanted the rodent-like animal gone, is now sitting in jail on Tuesday morning facing animal cruelty charges.

A pet prairie dog is dead and one of its owners, who wanted the rodent-like animal gone, is sitting in jail Tuesday facing animal cruelty charges.

Pedro Godales, 26 of Davie, was arrested Monday after he allegedly tossed a cage containing two pet prairie dogs against a wall and, later, fatally kicking one of them.

-------------------------

On Tuesday, Godales appeared before Broward County Judge John "Jay" Hurley, who said he had to look up on Google to find out what a prairie dog was. He described the pet "like a squirrel" and said the incident was not accident. Hurley set Godales' bond at $7,500.
