58. My first thought when that happened, and I still think it, he was a sacrificial lamb...
It was the day before the vote on Reaganomics and it was expected to be overwhelmingly defeated. After he was shot, every Dem voted for it because, with the "author" of the legislation supposedly near death in the hospital, they were afraid of PR repercussions if they didn't. That's why I think it was all just a ruse to get Reaganomics passed. Whether he was aware of that or not, don't know. But timing that is a little too convenient like that is always a red flag for me.
