US warplanes strike Falluja
The US military has renewed its aerial assault of Falluja amid reports of fierce clashes with the city's resistance, an Iraqi journalist said.

According to independent Iraqi journalist Fadhil al-Badrani, US warplanes targeted Falluja's eastern and southern districts.

He said fierce clashes had broken out in the city centre between US forces who have been in the city since 8 November and Iraqi fighters who had infiltrated back in across the Euphrates river.

"There is no way to determine the number of casualties as US authorities have barred journalists and aid workers from entering Falluja," al-Badrani told Aljazeera.

1. And again, the people of Falluja are forced to suffer...
at the hands of the US "liberators".

Wasn't this operation supposed to destroy the resistance? So much for that.

13. Agreed
When reading this I thought the headline had to be a month old. After all, we just had a spectacular military victory in Fallujah a few weeks ago. If it was so damn succesful, who the f**k are we bombing?

5. Over a month of fighting ...
... and we still haven't "liberated" the city. Even the most deluded neo-con has got to start facing the facts now. The whole operation has been a disaster, and we can't win.

8. "....and we can't win. What do you mean we, white man?.
Your response reminds me of the old Lone Ranger and Tonto joke.
My own best assessment of the situation in Falluja is that anihilation is the key to winning in the minds of US military planners and leaders.
Just go ask Tonto, and the Siux and the Cherokee and the Apache and the Piute and the Ute and the Pawnee and the Shawnee and the Pueblo and.........
From Sea to shining Sea to sandy oil field to copper rich hills to rubber rich plantations to poppy-filled plains to coca-groved hills to freshwater lakes to the air we breath to genetically modified fields of corn and wheat ans soybeans to........

6. Will there be a Falluja left in 2005?
By the way this "liberation" is going, the whole city will nothing but a crater.

I wonder what the grand plan with Mosul and the other strongholds will be

9. Bomb them back to the Stone Age.
This was what General Curtis "Big Bomber" LeMay advocated doing to Vietnam. Iraq II is really becoming Vietnam II.

19. Our sickest sociopaths are getting their fondest wishes satisfied.
There may well be a sheet of glass where Falluja stood, paving over all the screams, shouts, sobs, shrieks, blood, whispers, prayers.

10. those insurgents sure seem pretty mobile
for people with "broken backs"....
hmmm - when you think about it - the Pentagon never defined "liberating Fallujah", or what, in practical terms, it would mean. i guess we "liberated" Fallujah from Iraqi citizens.

18. Boy. Just wait until Chinese nukes liberate our cities.
Or Iranian. Or Russian. Or North Korean. Hell, there are so many, I can't even count anymore.

Oh yeah, assuming nobody else does, Rumdrinker will betray the Indian PM just as he had with ex-friend of 20 years, Saddam Hussein. Maybe the Indians will nuke us, or at least go after the corporate americans who moved into their country to exploit them.
