Maoists call three-day strike in Nepal
Wednesday, 02 February , 2005, 07:49

Kathmandu: Dubbing as "medieval feudal autocracy" Nepal King Gyanendra's dismissal of the Sher Bahadu Deuba government and imposition of Emergency, the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) on Monday called a three-day general strike across the country from Tuesday to protest the monarch's actions.

The party said in a statement that it was ready to work with all pro-people forces and those who are against "feudal autocracy" to oppose the King's actions.

"By discussing with pro-people forces in the days to come, the resistance (against the King's proclamations) will be heightened," the party's Chairman Prachanda, whose real name is Pushpa Kumar Dahal, said in a media release.
