Gannon/Guckert Met Kerry at WH Reporters' Bash, Hopes to Go Again

By Joe Strupp

Published: February 22, 2005 12:55 PM ET

NEW YORK At previous galas he says he managed to meet Sen. John Kerry and Al Franken. But will James Guckert's recent notoriety as a partisan White House reporter who used a fake name, among other alleged activities, keep him out of this year's White House Correspondents Dinner?

Guckert, a.k.a. Jeff Gannon, doesn’t think so.

<snip>
Although Guckert said no one had asked him to be their guest at the 2005 White House Correspondents dinner, scheduled for April 30, he believes his recent fame will make him a potential guest. "There is still time," he said, noting that the dinner had often prompted attention because of some controversial guests in the past, such as Monica Lewinsky. "There is always someone there trying to make news," he added. "Maybe this year it is going to be me.

although he may not have the 1200 anymore. He'll do anything to get attention.

On better thought, since Armstrong Williams has a penchant for personal trainers he might be up for taking Jeff/James on a date.

2. We can only hope.
If he gets an invite, we should mobilize the largest protest possible! E-mails, phone calls, marching in the street. The MSM will not be able to make it go away if this happens.

Somehow I think I am getting my hopes up. ;)

34. Protest??? NOOOOOO!!! Get some POPCORN!!!!!!!
Whatever it takes to keep this story front and center!

You have to check WHO does the inviting--it will be hysterical no matter who does it. If some conservative invites him (UNLIKELY!) everyone will wonder if he's paying the hourly or weekend rate. If a liberal invites him, I hope he gets him drunk and picks his brain. Spill the beans, JimmyJeff, tell us all your secrets!!!

How pathetic--this guy wants to be this year's PAULA JONES. Remember when she went to the dinner?

HA!

20. If I were him I'd certainly avoid small planes, and riding down dark
lonely roads. Probably best to avoid motel room, like that poor investigator in the Clint Curtis affidavit. If bulldog has any sense at all, he'd be coming clean with his info. His hubris makes him think he is indispensible, but we'll see in a couple months whether or not he has an "accident".

could reveal the "behind the scenes" goings on in the WH Press Corps. This guy is warning folks not to mess with him...he's got names and connections.

It's a fascinating article..He sounds like he might "turn" to me....

17. It strikes me as a warning, too.
Look at how he's throwing out Democratic names with a sense of familiarity, as though there could be a potential for an alliance:

"I got a ticket each year," Guckert said, declining to name those who brought him. "I paid, and I just wanted to be there. I met John Kerry at one of them and the cast of 'The West Wing.' I met Al Franken at the first one after he'd gotten into it with the Fox News table."

Then he speaks about his "journal"...

"I have probably one page for each day at the White House, about 200 pages of stuff," said Guckert. "Is it all interesting? Probably not. But it could be . I haven’t thought that far ahead."

And possible speaking engagements in the future:

"There are people who are definitely interested in some of my behind-the-scenes work in the press room."

On one hand, he implies that the journal may not be interesting & on the other he thinks there are people who would definitely be interested in his behind-the-scene observations.

All I want from this guy is for the media to investigate the facts surrounding his relationship to this administration; why he was given the priviledge of a daily pass without scrutiny by the FBI; and why did he attend WH Christmas parties.

36. I've said this before, I'll say it again
ONE WORD: McClellan.

Watch the way McClellan reacts in those tapes when he calls on JimmyJeff. Note carefully the look on his face, his expression, his eyes, LOOK CAREFULLY. It's all too apparent that there is more there than meets the eye of the very casual observer. What the 'there' is, only JimmyJeff and Scotty know!

46. It sure looks like a veiled threat to me.
No doubt he's being ostracized by his former cabal associates, & with "Gannon's" obvious, overblown ego, he's feeling paranoid.

His ego is his worst enemy. He's a liar, and a bad one, & he's not good at covering his tracks. If you haven't read this yet, check it out: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x3162112
