FALLUJAH, Iraq (AFP) - At least 11 Iraqis were wounded, three seriously, when US troops opened fire on cars at the entrance to the hotspot town of Fallujah, witnesses and an AFP correspondent said.

They said that local mosques broadcast a call for blood, drawing some 2,000 people to Fallujah Hospital where they chanted anti-US slogans such as "America is the enemy of God."

Jassem Mohammad Alwan, a local resident, said he accompanied an ambulance carrying an Iraqi man, woman and a child to the hospital in extremely serious condition.

An AFP correspondent in Fallujah, 50 kilometers (30 miles) west of Baghdad, said he saw eight other wounded Iraqis brought into the facility.

1. This won't end until we get out of Iraq.
This is so disheartening. We're continuing to kill the children.

3. Kicking because we should not become complacent about the deaths
