Visiting Afghan women's van, crafts stolen
http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/03/30/afghans.robbed.ap/index.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) -- A delegation of 10 Afghan women who are visiting Ohio to make business contacts lost $10,000 worth of crafts when their rented van was stolen.

The group represents 2,000 craftswomen who make purses, shawls, jewelry and other wares.

"We arrived to find a market for these products," said one of the women, Parwana Wafa. "Instead of help, we lost everything."

The van was stolen Tuesday after it was left idling outside a hotel.

That's really a shame. Someone should show them how to get on eBay..I bet their merchandise will show up there.

1. As a crafts person
I extend to these women my heartfelt sympathy and best wishes for recovery of their work.

It is such a shame that so many Americans -- and they aren't alone -- are so willing to spend so much money on so much cheap crap when there are so many beautiful things to buy.

Buy less, but buy better!
