Fairport Not Complying With Recruitment Requirements

(Fairport, NY) -- Fairport Central Schools might lose some federal funding because the district is not completely complying with an armed forces recruitment requirement.

Under the "no child left behind" act, school districts must turn over students' contact information to recruiters. Districts that don't fully comply can lose their federal funding.

Fairport only forwards a list of students the district knows are interested in the military.

Dr. Bill Cala, Fairport Schools Superintendent, said, "I give them roughly 80 names, which is a large number of hot leads&it's the kind of thing a salesman would pay a lot of money for."

Captain Larry Dibble, Executive Officer for Training and Recruitment for Western NY, said, "Fairport is considered a non-cooperating school. We have reported them to the Department of Defense."

2. Terrifying ...

This line is positively terrifying:

"Fairport is considered a non-cooperating school. We have reported them to the Department of Defense."

Reporting a school to the DoD. Geezus.

4. Since when does the DOD control
school funding? Isn't government blackmail an illegal action? Don't bother to answer.

6. Savvy Parents
Who know the law. If there are 180 students in that age range and 100 parents sign the Do Not Call List, that recruiter CAN ONLY GET 80 names. I live on Long Island. I knew about that list 3 YEARS AGO. Our school district now sends it out automatically to every Junior and Senior in HS who is under 18.

Is this a back door way of getting names from the Do Not Call list to show that they are complying?
