DPW: Mark Green Stands by his Man
4/11/2005

Republicans break with Tom DeLay, Green stays strong

Sunday was not a good day for Tom DeLay. First, the third ranking Republican in the Senate, Rick Santorum, went on ABC’s This Week to say that embattled House Majority Leader Tom DeLay needs to answer the questions swirling around his ethics problems.

Later, Rep. Christopher Shays called for DeLay to step down as House majority leader because his continuing ethics problems are hurting the GOP. "Tom's conduct is hurting the Republican Party, is hurting this Republican majority and it is hurting any Republican who is up for re-election," Shays told The Associated Press.

So why is Mark Green standing by Tom DeLay?

Maybe it’s the $1000 that Tom DeLay gave to Mark Green from DeLay’s Campaign Committee: http://images.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/fecimg/?98033781832

Or more likely, it’s the $29,500 Tom DeLay has given Mark Green from his leadership Pac, Americans for a Republican Majority PAC: http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/com_supopp/C00292946

Last year, DeLay was admonished three times by the House ethics committee.

Mark Green’s response? He voted in favor of the new rules for the ethics committee that House Republicans rammed through to protect DeLay. Green then participated in stripping fellow Republican Rep. Joel Hefley of his ethics committee chairmanship because the committee dared come down against DeLay.

2. Green must be defeated in '06.
I live in Green Bay and am tired of his "party before people" stance on every vote that has come before him.

He is a disgrace.

13. "Party before people" What a nice turn of phrase.
We have that going on quite visibly in Colorado right now. Our pet religious wacko extremists have started their own "caucus" within their party. They have their priorities whether or not those have anything to do with Colorado and the needs and values of Colorado citizens.

From the Denver Post today.
"They are thinking big, modeling their effort on the conservative Republican Study Committee at the U.S. House of Representatives, which over the course of 30 years has become one of the most powerful caucus groups in Congress.

The national caucus group claims more than 100 members, including three from Colorado - U.S. Reps. Marilyn Musgrave, Tom Tancredo and Bob Beauprez.

The priorities of the new state group, according to its founding declaration: "individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, peace through strength and rule of law, free markets and commerce, lower taxes, family integrity and the American moral tradition, faith-based institutions, quality education, Western conservation and legislative integrity."

14. This is to fix the link above. It's still takes you to a good article.
This is to the organizing wacko Republicans in the Colorado House.

The other is to one about a Republican strategist expressing severe doubts about the future of his party.

:-) Choices, oh my.

5. This may be what takes DeLay down
Green then participated in stripping fellow Republican Rep. Joel Hefley of his ethics committee chairmanship because the committee dared come down against DeLay.

The fear the little nazi cretin has spread means he has no friends other than the ones he buys, and the ones he bought are going to be terrified of facing the voters as a DeLay tool. Tom will not be in Congress in Sept. of 2006.

9. So your threat to defund any Repub who didn't support you backfired, eh?
Edited on Mon Apr-11-05 01:11 PM by rocknation
I guesss they're more scared of Cheney and Rove than of you. But I'm not complaining, RoachBoy--in fact, I think you're doing fine. So keep fighting back! Keep refusing to back down from Rove and Cheney! Ignore the fact that Bush HIMSELF has said the judiciary has should remain independent! Keep making psychotic attempts to blame your troubles on Dems! Keep your party vulnerable to further investigation! Your time is now--sieze the day! Go, RoachBoy, go, go!

Mark Green stopped at the starbuck's (evil, evil corporation) i used to work at on wisconsin ave. in Grand Chute. i must agree with you hippiechick, he is an obnoxious toad. by the way his drink was a 16oz sugar-free french vanilla capichino. he didn't leave a tip and appeared just a little afraid of this dread-locked barista with the black ribbon on his apron. i kept making eye contact, forcing him to look away (it felt so good to see him squirm a little).
