Blast near Baghdad Green Zone kills five

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A car bomb exploded near a U.S. convoy outside Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone on Wednesday, killingfive Iraqis and slightly wounding four American contractors, the U.S. military said.

The bomb exploded as a Defence Department convoy carrying civilian workers left the Green Zone, centre for U.S. operations in Iraq, atabout 9:30 a.m., said military spokesman Chief Petty Officer James Drake.
