Lewd e-mail inquiry leads to 4 firings
April 26, 2005

TALLAHASSEE - What began as an invitation for three-way sex ended with the firing of four state education employees for sending lewd e-mails.

"This has been the most troubling thing to me since I've been commissioner," said state Education Commissioner John Winn late Monday. "Our agency deals with educating young people. This is certainly inappropriate."

<snip>

E-mails were received by about 25 DOE employees, and some were from employees at other state agencies. The investigation is continuing and others could be disciplined, Winn said.

James L. Gay, 45, an administrator in the DOE print shop; Dana Hendricks, 27, an operations and management consultant in the Office of Leadership Development; and Maryann Ford, 49, a research and training specialist at Leadership Development, were fired. A fourth employee, Rochelle Franklin, 36, a career service distribution agent in the Office of General Services, has been suspended and given 10 days to respond to a notice that she is being fired.

Mmm... This story could get interesting. I wonder if anyone is checking Jeb's email.

1. I never get anything cool like that.
Fake Rolexes,a bigger tally-whacker, 1% mortgage re-finances (I live in a Rental)...
Some people have all the luck. Wonder how many "Thank you, I most certainly will attend" replies they got?

2. Oh geeze! Lets all put on our pleasure blockers!!
Can't beleive this line. "Our agency deals with educating young people. This is certainly inappropriate."

So if you and some of your fellow employees want to get a little hedonistic and have a threeway than you should be fired???

I realize discussing it via email may be grounds for firing but uhmm, he certainly comes off as if he is saying the whole idea of it is inappropriate if you happen to deal with education. Well unless the class is on how to have fun with three bodies a tube of lube and a case of condoms these education employees probably wont be bringing up the fact that they like to get multi in the bedroom!

Also I don't care if they are repukes or not... that line certainly wreaks of a moralistic conviction.

3. I think it's settled legally...
that all emails sent on a company's or govt. agency's computers are the property of the company or govt. agency. If there are rules against this type of use of email, the employees can be fired.

4. I have no problem with the 3-way sex. However, anyone dumb
enough to try to arrange in using company facilities should be fired.

Anyone stupid enough to use the company email system for such communications has no business teaching my kids jack. My kids could teach them a thing or 2 :)

7. No argument from me there at all...
Without a doubt they can be terminated for using the emails this way.

It was that line that I had my nice lil overreaction to. It just came off so... moraliticly interprative.

Ahh I still hadn't had my coffee yet.
