Arthur Andersen settlement deal OKd
NEW YORK - A federal judge gave preliminary approval Tuesday to a deal under which auditor Arthur Andersen LLP will pay $65 million to settle allegations it failed to protect investors from WorldCom’s historic accounting fraud.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7632161/

===========================================
Arthur Anderson consulting branch, who of course changed their name to Accenture (1999 split agreement, but still, hey it's the same people!) was awarded a $10B dollar DoD contract...they are incorporated offshore, with a subsidary in the US,
plus Accenture (Arthur Anderson Consulting) is a major outsourcing company...so of course they are awarded
a $10 BILLION dollar defense contract. 10B of taxpayer dollars
while they suck US jobs overseas.

So, the liquidated company, left as the token "fall guy", gets $65M dollar fine, the others seattled for $24M...from an $11 BILLION
dollar fraud that also tanked WorldCom.

So, who besides me feel this is a token spanking and then a big fat
lollipop given by the DoD in the way of $10 BILLION, for the punishment and who also says Crime doesn't pay in America...
it clearly does.

1. ignoring these topics is how they get away with it
I posted this, major story and not one comment. Not one.

Plenty of comments on stories where one doesn't have to think on...

but I feel dismayed that this story, which is a major economic
fraud story, just goes whizzing on by.

I'm sorry people but becoming literate in white collar crime and
following the money and how it's being siphoned off from the US people, is critical to taking back the country...

if no one even bothers to follow the news that makes it to the front
page on economic crime...how is it going to be stopped?

4. One major reason it gets ignored
is that the media tacks on a boring headline which almost guarantees it will get ignored. No network or cable media will blast out reports which state these guys got a slap on the hand for bilking millions.

If anyone bothers to read the headline all they are aware of is some accounting firm got a fine for doing something wrong to someone else. Boring. Next.

That's how they get away with it.

6. corporate media complicit
no doubt about it...but it's in the "boring" topics
where America is getting siphoned off most...

who wants to pay attention to corporate tax codes or details on
trade agreements or numbers cranking through a budget...

or funky clauses in legislation...

that's how they get away with it and why I'm hoping people start
taking the time to pay attention.

2. They're the most crooked bunch of people I've ever worked for
Quitting Andersen Consulting was the best career move I've ever made. I saw some very ugly things go on inside that firm, and I worked at a tiny remote office far removed from the mainstream action of the heavy-hitting partners. They are willing, even eager to destroy good people in order to make their numbers.

3. I know, yet
they got a 10 billion dollar contract over LockHeed Martin...
yet they can't engineer their way out of a paper bag because they
are so sociopathic.

DoD contract awards has to be one of the most overlooked "payoff"
going.

Glad you got out.

5. These are the people that are ripping off America.
They have the best brains that money can buy. Enron was enough to put most these jokers in prison, but instead America in put in prison by their corupption.
