Bush sees progress in Iraq, sets no withdrawal time
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N28102079.htm

WASHINGTON, April 28 (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush said on Thursday that despite a violent insurgency, progress was being made in Iraq which just formed a new government, but he refused to set a timetable for withdrawing American troops.

"I believe we're making really good progress in Iraq," Bush said. "They saw a government form today. The Iraqi military is being trained by our military, and they're performing much better than the past."

11. did you see where the Pentagon is just now
releasing photos (360 of them)?

In this photo released by the Department of Defense on Thursday, April 28, 2005, in response to a Freedom of Information Act request, soldiers drape U.S. flags over the caskets of members of a Black Hawk helicopter crew prior to off-loading at Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany. The Black Hawk, part of the 158th Aviation Regiment, 5th Battalion, 12th Aviation Brigade, Giebelstadt, Germany, crashed during a night training mission in Kuwait, killing all four crewmembers. 15. It breaks my heart that there are those
so foolishly entrenched in not understanding that life is so hard to bring into this world and so easily lost.

Caligula comes to mind.

What we can conclude is that he was carried away by the absolute nature of the power that he had inherited from more hard-working and stable emperors. He seemed to be determined to flaunt that power and to strip away all the pretense and euphemisms in which Augustus (and Tiberius, to a lesser extent) had cloaked it. Caligula's bizarre behavior demonstrates what can happen when absolute power is combined with a total lack of responsibility and respect for others (see Garrett Fagan's biography for a balanced assessment of Caligula).

Everything that came out of his mouth was stammering bull patties.
Did anyone get the feeling that they were lobbing softballs at him?

20. related: Attacks Rage Inside Iraq As George W. Bush Hails “Progress”
http://www.jihadunspun.com/intheatre_internal.php?article=102558&list=/home.php

At least 19 people were killed and over 70 wounded in a string of at least nine car bomb attacks in and around Baghdad Friday, April 29, according to an interior ministry official.

The attack came one day after the announcement of an incomplete Iraqi government, and after US President George W. Bush said American-led forces were making “really good progress” in Iraq but refused to set a timeline for the end of the occupation of the oil-rich country.

Thirteen people died, including seven soldiers and two policemen, and 50 were wounded, including 13 soldiers and two policemen, in four apparently coordinated car bomb attacks in two districts of the capital at about 8:00 am (0400 GMT), the interior ministry official told Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Five others, including one policeman and two interior ministry commandos, and 14, mostly security forces, were wounded when three more car bombs exploded in Madain, a town some 30 kilometers (18 miles) south of the capital that was swept only 10 days ago by the Iraqi army in search of fighters.

It seems those located in the ME were not impressed with idiotboy's speech.

28. "they're performing much better than the past" translated: okay, when i
said we were doing well before, i guess we were failing pretty miserably, but things are better now because everyone there is so f**king scared out of their minds and realizing that they're trapped in perpetual hell, so they're starting to cooperate more rather than simply getting shot by our freaked-out troops.
