2 hurt in crash fault police (High Speed Chase of Stop Sign Runner)

Two men injured in a crash after a police chase said Saturday that Indianapolis police needlessly placed their lives at risk to catch a traffic violator.

"These cop chases are getting out of hand," said Cecil Ketnor, 62, Parkersburg. "It is uncalled for, for a little traffic thing. Innocent people can get in wrecks and get killed during these things."

However, an Indianapolis Police Department spokeswoman said the drivers who flee from police bear responsibility for such incidents.

"Our department has a pursuit policy in place to ensure that our pursuits are done as safely as possible," said Sgt. Judy Phillips. "Once they decide to flee the police, they are responsible for the results of that action."
