Did President Bush mislead the nation to war?

In a live, unscientific Internet poll, MSNBC readers are overwhelmingly saying yes.

With more than 6,000 votes recorded, the survey shows a lopsided 94 percent believe Bush misled the American people, with only 6 percent saying no.

The live poll is a companion to an Associated Press story about a call from Rep. Charles Rangel, D-NY, for an official inquiry on the topic.

and what's scarier still for people who plan to live their lives in the states is that the rest of the world is quickly coming to a point where they don't give a shit about what happens to Americans, either.

What can you say with all the political "goings-on" yesterday, the Washington Post, CHOOSES to run a photo of our Senators "goofing" instead of the photo that will PROVE TO BE history in the making of Senator Conyers delivering 560,000 signed petitions and 122 Representatives TO THE PRESIDENT.

I can NOT post the ORIGINAL picture of this tripe because I'm unable to find this Photo on the Internet version. But the caption below the main photo ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE WASHINGTON POST for Friday, June 17, 2003 is:

"Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) claps as Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) displays his shoes after a photo session for "Seersucker Thursday," a capitol Hill rite of spring. Joining in are the organizer, Sen. Trent Lot (R-Miss.), center, and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.)."

So let me get this straight? With all the tragic killing in Iraq, the 5.2 Magnitude earthquake in California and the historic delivery of Signed Letters of Inquiry from Rep. Conyers, The BEST photo
that the paper who broke "Watergate" is now giving us the skinny regarding "Seersucker Thursday?"

BTW only Andy Griffin in "Matlock" looks half-ass decent in those ugly suits. No Senators, you don't even begin to look "cute". :puffpiece::puke:

But alas, it's not just the WHORshington post that's spewing disinformation, OUR illustrious CNN Headline Cable news is airing "Baby-proofing 101." I guess the Iranian Elections are not as earth shattering as teaching American parents THE OBVIOUS!?!

This is UN-SAT!

Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., left, ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, hand-delivers petitions to the White House to an unidentified White House aide, right, standing on the other side of the Northwest Appointment gate of the White House, Thursday, June 16, 2005 in Washington. The petitions are signed by 105 members of Congress and more than 540,000 Americans demanding that President Bush provide a detailed response to the evidence in the Downing Street memos of deceptions about the war in Iraq. 15. TALKING POINTS ON DOWNING STREET MINUTES
<snip>

The recent release of the Downing Street Memo provides new and compelling evidence that the President of the United States has been actively engaged in a conspiracy to deceive and mislead the United States Congress and the American people about the basis for going to war against Iraq. If true, such conduct constitutes a High Crime under Article II, Section 4 of the United States Constitution: “The President, Vice President, and all civil officers of the United States shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”

If the evidence revealed by the Downing Street Memo is true, then the President’s submission of his March 18, 2003 letter and report to the United States Congress would violate federal criminal law, including: the federal anti-conspiracy statute, 18 U.S.C. § 371, which makes it a felony “to commit any offense against the
United States, or to defraud the United States, or any agency thereof in any manner or for any purpose...”; and The False Statements Accountability Act of 1996, 18 U.S.C. § 1001, which makes it a felony to issue knowingly and willfully false statements to the United States Congress

33. NYT (today): Bush's Support on Major Issues Tumbles in Poll
By ROBIN TONER and MARJORIE CONNELLY
Published: June 17, 2005
Increasingly pessimistic about Iraq and skeptical about President Bush's plan for Social Security, Americans are in a season of political discontent, giving Mr. Bush one of the lowest approval ratings of his presidency and even lower marks to Congress, according to the New York Times/CBS News Poll.

Forty-two percent of the people responding to the poll said they approved of the way Mr. Bush was handling his job, a marked decline from his 51 percent rating after of the November election, when he embarked on an ambitious second term agenda led by the overhaul of Social Security. Sixteen months before the midterm elections, Congress fared even worse in the survey, with the approval of just 33 percent of the respondents, and 19 percent saying Congress shared their priorities.

Of course it's not scientific. Of course there is not really a margin of error. But if there were, 94% + 6% would be 100%. That would be everybody.

If even reasonably accurate (not scientific, just not "DU'd"), it means that The People are ripe for supporting impeachment. UNLESS, of course, a good many of them think lying to Congress and The People is okay -- but while there may be some knuckledraggers who actually do believe that, I can guarantee you, MOST do not.

accept the seeds of doubt, suspicion, thinking the worst, maybe even a growing outrage over being had. A gathering storm. The rows have now been weeded and the ground broken up and softened and enriched - to pland the seeds. Now, the ground is receptive, and the seeds can take root.

It is NO LONGER UNTHINKABLE to bring up IMPEACHMENT. No longer unthinkable to pursue impeachment. And the more frequently we press this, the more we invoke the word "impeachment" and put it out there over and over and over and over, the more deeply rooted it will become in the national consciousness. It will become widely recognized and acknowledged as truth. But unlike the crap-spew repeated and repeated by the bad guys, THIS has truth in it, through and through. They can't make ANY such claims. None.

Impeachment IS an option. Tell your friends. Call your reps and tell them, too. If they hear it from enough of us, and frequently enough from enough of us, they'll start caving. I mean, look at Congressman Jones - the "freedom fries" guy. He's already wandered off the reservation.

And remember this: As this gathers momentum, and can't be beaten down or spun away, and more people get more angry and insensed about being had, and more people start demanding answers, and more of our kids get killed over there, and more sobbing mothers start speaking out about their lost sons and daughters, there will be a growing number of Republicans who start to realize they don't want to be on the losing team. If they think ties to bush will take them down, they'll cut and run. Because they HAVE to face the voters again. And if the voters are telling them to FIX THIS, OR ELSE, they won't play "you bet your job" for bush. AND, remember this too: the moderates who've been bound and gagged by the tom delays and denny hasterts and other hard-ass schmucks will see this as an opportunity to break away, slough off their bondage, and start considering their country before their party. I'd bet there are moderates at this very moment who are wondering how much longer they dare tow the party line, or start showing some independence and some principles.

That's why - EVEN IF YOUR REP IS A republi-CON, you MUST call in and complain. You MUST. If they start hearing it from their constituents, you bet it's gonna start registering. It WILL help push the fence-sitters (who ARE starting to sweat, I guarantee you) over to the Light.

The momentum is on OUR side now. So are the facts. So is the truth. So is the righteousness. And since God is Truth, we could well make the claim that God is on OUR side now.

62. Sorry, but this means nothing
I am as anti-Bush as they come, and I think he did more than "mislead" us into war I think he lied us into war.

However as a recent college graduate who majored in sociology and spent a great deal of time studying polling methodology, I can tell you that this poll means nothing. There is not a random sample, and it is voluntary participation meaning that people can contact their friends and allies and have them all vote in the poll.

The truth is we will have many internet polls tilted heavily in our favor, and many others coming out heavily against us. None of them mean anything though. We should not be posting internet polls as news, because they are for entertainment purposes only and have no more validity than a tarot card reading.

63. Nah, it just doesn't mean what a properly conducted poll with the
same result would mean. That doesn't mean it means nothing. Everytime someone hits that msnbc site and sees it, they are going to know that lots of people out there think he's a liar - a view which, never mind the exact figures, is actually supported (not made certain, but supported) by the poll.

"Not scientific" != "means nothing" :-)
