Bomb Scare Evacuates Part of Cincinnati Airport

One of the terminals at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport was evacuated Tuesday afternoon because of a bomb scare.

A bomb-sniffing dog on its regular patrol made a "hit" on a black over-the-shoulder bag in the drop-off area of terminal 3 around 3:30 p.m., officials said.

It's unclear exactly what was in that bag.

"A bomb dog hit on it, it was on the curbside. It was an over-the-shoulder black bag. We've had things of this nature before. Either someone had something in there that was explosive, or it was near something that had the smell of explosives, so the dogs hit on it," said Buschelman.

So, could they have gotten the wrong bag? I hope they got the right one.

2. Nothing against the dogs
but a friend of mine recently flew and got detained because dogs got "hits" on one of her bags for both explosives and heroin. Turns out all she did have was a quarter ounce of pot and some shampoo. Hope Cinnci turns out to be ok though.

3. Oh, please...
If Al Qaeda or any bunch of terrorists wanted to make a "statement" they sure as hell wouldn't bother with Cincinnati of all places... and their airport is miles away from the city, in Northern Kentucky.

4. Cincinnati is exactly the place to strike...
or Des Moines, or Wichita, or some other second-tier airport where security is probably not as stringent. And the airport is in the Cincinnati metropolitan area, on the other side of the river in northern Kentucky.

6. I've always thought that a shopping mall in
nowhere would be the best place to hit - Mall of America for instance. That would move things out of the big cities into anywhere USA

5. My great aunt got a hit once while carrying cheese and sausage from WI to
Florida.

Dogs sometimes want lunch, and summer sausage can smell a lot like a treat to them.

The nice 70 year old lady was detained for several hours, though.

7. I am at the Cincinnati airport...
another idiot flyer left a bag unattended. I was delayed about 2 hours waiting for someone to remove the bag. All is fine now!
