Survey USA: President's Speech Not Helping His Approval Rating

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- President Bush's Veterans Day speech has not helped his approval ratings. He accused Democrats of re-writing the history of the Iraq War.

We wanted to know what you think, so we used an exclusive statewide newstrack poll conducted by Survey USA.

In Florida, 37% of the people surveyed approve of the job President Bush is doing. 61% disapprove.

In Georgia, 45% of the people surveyed approve of the job President Bush is doing. 51% disapprove.

15. Look at the graphs; the change was in September
This coincides with the debacle of Hurricane Katrina.

I think it was that which convinced the "mushy middle" that George Bush was bad news with a capital B.

Only about six or seven states, all red states, still (statistically) support Bush.

24. Wow, only 4 states have more "approves" than "disapproves"
He still has more than 50% support in die-hard states such as Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Mississippi, and a 50/50 tie approve/disapprove in Nebraska and Oklahoma.

But on the flip side, even blood-red states that voted for him in 2004--including Alabama, Alaska, Texas, Georgia, Louisiana, Indiana and Kansas--now have higher disapproval scores than approval scores. In places like New York and Rhode Island, it's a 3-1 disapproval rating.

Please God, let this be the beginning of a 3-year trend.

The state that supposedly gave the edge in the election to * is about even with ME and PA, which went for Kerry. Amazing how those Liebald voting machines skewed the results, innit?

25. My state NY
Is second to LAST in the Bust approval rating. It would be interesting to see what approval ratings NYC gives Mr. *, given the fact that he got the least number of votes of any sitting President EVER (20%). It must be about a 5% approval rating by now.

What ungrateful TRAITORS. We are where 9/11 happened. Iraq War, and the entire preemptive policy, was for US. Screw you, Mr. President. We know when we are being USED.

3. I've got a great idea, Dubya! Why don't you and Cheney bully us some more?
The American People just LOVE it when you lie, yell, and sneer at us! We've had our Patriotism questioned for five years now, and we just can't get enough of it! This seems to be working so well for you, keep it up, m'kay?

4. This is truly Bush's advisors' nightmare....
They've been painted into a corner. They know the only way out is to trot out Bush and hopefully save the day.

The problem is, every time they drag him out to do another speech, his ratings fall. If they keep him in hiding, the American public gets pissed and starts to demand some answers.

But every time Einstein comes out, the U.S. smells a rat.

I think the jig is up.

Isn't that basically everywhere Don?

Odd that they never turned up...

7. Very few people probably saw that speech. Most probably got their
info from news clips or newspapers. What happened was the Dems called Bush for what it was, a plotical speech on what should only be a tribute to vets, so the news carried the outrage and stupidity of Bush to give a speech like that. If the Dems didn't step to the plate immediately, the media would have carried the speech in a whole different manner. And the repuke spin machine would have carried the day.

11. No surprises here
I think that using the Iraq war to try to bolster approval ratings stopped working about 2 years ago.

Trying to accuse dissenters of sending the wrong message to the troops wore out about one year ago.

George Jr. and his cronies better come up with something new soon.

This guy has the worst ability to give speeches. He messes up words and sometimes I wonder if he can even read. I wish I had a collection of all his lame speeches and how he messes them up. Someone needs to make a video of the comical moments

20. Not only do people remember the lies in 2002 and early 2003 told over
and over again in the run-up to this war based on lies, but Bush is now sounding mean and bitter, not the kind of guy you would want to drink a beer with and shoot the shit.

The truth of what an ill tempered, vindicative, shallow little man he truly is becomes more pronounced each and every time he opens his pie hole.

23. If Bush doesn't watch out soon he will lose percentage points
and be ridiculed each time he speaks to try to regain ground. And he soon will only be able to speak before military or hand-picked audiences only. That's what happened to Nixon! Wait.....
