(AP) Iraq Roadside Bombings Kill 6 U.S. Troops
An ambush on a joint U.S.-Iraqi patrol northwest of Baghdad left 15 civilians, eight insurgents and a U.S. Marine dead from a roadside bomb and the firefight that followed, a U.S. military statement said Sunday.

The attack began with an improvised explosive device detonating next to the Marine's vehicle in the town of Haditha, 140 miles northwest of Baghdad, on Saturday, the U.S. command said.

Five American soldiers _ assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division _ died in a pair of roadside bombings near Beiji, 155 miles north of Baghdad, the U.S. command said. Five others from the same unit were wounded.

Another soldier from the 101st died in a U.S. hospital in Germany of injuries suffered two days ago when his vehicle was deliberately rammed by an Iraqi car near Beiji, the U.S. command said Saturday.

3. US-Iraqi army patrol ambushed
The new news is the dead Marine from a roadside bomb, the deaths of the 5 soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division were reported on Saturday. The death of the Marine brings the death count to 2,092!

An ambush on a joint US-Iraqi patrol northeast of Baghdad left 15 civilians, eight armed fighters and a US Marine dead from a road side bomb and the fire fight that followed.

The attack began with an improvised explosive device detonating next to the Marine's vehicle in the town of Haditha, 220km northwest of Baghdad, on Saturday, the US command said on Sunday.

Fifteen civilians were also killed by the blast, which was followed by an attack with small arms, the statement said.

"Iraqi army soldiers and Marines returned fire killing eight insurgents and wounding another," the statement added.

4. Thank you for the clarification IG.
I have not been at the computer much in the last 24 hours. I did read your 5 dead by roadside bomb post last night and I thought these were in addition to them. See, now there is small comfort for a bit.

9. For once, Bush actually told us the real reason for
invading Iraq. His little comment reminds me of a radio talk show host who said, "the American way of life is non-negotiable".

Really? Our "American" way of life is costing us a hell of a lot, lately. In fact, it's destroying us. You do not have to be a CPA to understand that we're hemorrhaging to death financially in Iraq. We're spending $4.9 billion per month in Iraq and Afghanistan.

None of that has been paid with current funds. It's all been borrowed from the future.It's only a matter of time before our creditors pull the plug on our credit.

They've been nice to us. They extended us a helluva lot of money. They gave us the chance to prove ourselves in Iraq. We failed.

Our next statement will say, "Sorry, you're COD now".

II MEF Marine killed by IED

CAMP FALLUJAH, Iraq – A Marine assigned to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), was killed in action when his vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device attack while conducting combat operations against the enemy in the vicinity of Hadithah, Nov. 19.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.
