Administration "saddened" by losses in Fallujah bombing

WHITE HOUSE The Bush administration says it's "saddened" to hear of the deadly roadside bombing that killed ten Marines in Iraq.

Press Secretary Scott McClellan says a loss like this represents a "tough day" for the U-S cause -- the kind that President Bush has warned about.

But the spokesman says the soldiers sacrificed "for an important cause," and America will be forever grateful.

Pentagon officials say the Marines were patrolling on foot near Fallujah (fuh-LOO'-juh) yesterday when the bomb went off.

1. Dumb question... didn't we take Fallujah down last year?
Why should this have happened near Fallujah, as opposed to oh... Tel Afar, Mosul, Ramadi, Qaim, and all sorts of other places I ought never have heard of except on Jeopardy - Mecca Edition?

3. Taking Fallujah Will Be An Annual Event
Goes to show that we cannot "take" any place in Iraq.

Scotty just revealed that * learned about the Falluja incident last night. But never the less, this morning he had to gather the press and gloat about how the economy is doing so well.

15. Well, let's hope one of these Marines left a letter on his computer
that Bush can use in a future "big" speech on Iraq.

Not like that's something to celebrate. But nevertheless.

And I didn't say civilians. Soldiers who are slaughtered for no good reason are innocent lives, too.

20. Bush did not make any such warnings in the sales job run up to
the authority vote. Of course anybody with a brain would know that would be the consequence to such a vote but that's a different issue.

22. And so citizens are fawning all over themselves thanking Bush
for being saddened. Maybe he can photo op with more military fellows like he did the few black residents of NO that would stand within a few feet of the liar. I saw a little smidgeon of his Thurs demand performance with the captive naval audience on Keith Obermann last night. The clapping was very unenthusiastic and most were playing the sit on your hands game.
