U.S. general says Bin Laden is alive

Associated Press

WASHINGTON - The top military commander in Afghanistan said Thursday that he believes Osama bin Laden is still alive, but there is no evidence of al-Qaida fighters moving from Iraq into Afghanistan to train terrorists there.

Coalition commander Lt. Gen. Karl Eikenberry said there is no reason to believe bin Laden was killed in the earthquake that struck the mountains along the Pakistan border.

"Our forces will not rest until he is either found and captured or killed," Eikenberry told Pentagon reporters in a conference call. "Our working assumption is he is alive today."

He also acknowledged that the U.S. presence in Afghanistan is likely to be reduced as the NATO-led coalition takes over control in the south.

16. Why?
How would they know and why would they not tell? It seems they would parade his head down Madison Avenue, if they had it. I see no motivation for pretending he is alive, if he's dead, or vice versa.

Does something about this statement seem a little bass-ackward?

17. Yes, it was a 'WTF' moment for me as well. I am inclined to call this man
a complete bulshitter. Not that Osama isn't still alive, just that this 'general' is a stooge.

5. IT'S ALIVE

"It's alive ... Alive!!!"

Those immortal words, screamed out of Dr. Frankenstein's mouth as the world was introduced to one of the most gruesome creatures ever to walk the earth, Frankenstein, will echo through your speakers and send chills up your spine.

6. In other news...
General Francisco Franco is still dead.

They(buscho) need Osama alive for a symbol. If he is dead then support for the 'war on terror' will slide. We will still see impersonators popping up from time to time to give election eve boosts to the neocons.

8. The war is not meant to be won.
The war is meant to be continuous.

We have always been at war with Eurasia.

What is this faith-based 'intelligence'?

If he is alive, then we can conclude after fours years, that the US military is incompetent and have failed miserably...

But of course the military and their supporters will simply dust off the old shop-worn treasonous excuse, that it was the politicians that tied our hands and we could have capture him/achieved victory if it wsn't for all those civilians (citizens) gumming up the works.

Oddly enough, people who think this way bout the military, would never accept from a defensive line the excuse of blaming the QB, because the Line allowed 30 points in the first quarter.

However, you can blame the Head Coach and his Defensive co-ordinators like the Rummy...

Amazing how peasants in Afghanistan are deemed more accountable than US elected leaders and military men 'tasked' with a simple missing persons case.

Sure...hand them another 100b?

12. I believe this.
The incompetence or fecklessness of the Bush people allowed bin Laden to escape in December 2001 -- we didn't put our own troops on the escape routes, and the warlords betrayed us. Now he's in the Pakistani frontier region, where the Pakistani government has limited control, and we are not allowed to enter. If Musharref did what was necessary to get bin Laden, he would probably be overthrown or assassinated. If we entered Pakistan, the same thing would happen -- the Musharref government would be destroyed, and radicals would control the nuclear weapons. So we have to sit there looking cute. Because Bush & company are dishonest and incompetent.
