Males with bats kill homeless man, injure 2 others (Story and video)

FORT LAUDERDALE – Young males armed with baseball bats or sticks attacked and beat three homeless men -- killing one and hospitalizing two -- early Thursday morning in the city's downtown and beachside areas, police said.

One of the homeless men died from his injuries around 8 a.m. at Broward General Medical Center. He was identified later as Norris Gaynor, 45. The two other homeless men were listed serious at the hospital. They were not immediately identified.

The attacks occurred between 2 and 4 a.m. and involved two to four young white males, news partner NBC 6 reported.

the attackers most certainly have anger/compassion issues. I wouldn't be surprised if they all belong to the Young College Republicans.

I also hope the other two people who were attacked pull through, and as for the man who died, I'm so sorry that you had to endure this kind of pain and suffering. I'm sorry you were not able to defend yourself, being attacked while you slept. What cowards your attackers were for attacking you while you slept.

Whenever they are caught and brought to justice, I hope while they are locked up that perhaps they may meet the same fate. It is times like this that makes me reconsider my opposition to the death penalty!

people whine and complain about abortion and religious viewpoints and morals. How moral is it to turn a blind eye to this kind of thing happening in our country? I've ALWAYS said this. NO ONE listens to animal rights people, thinking humans have more rights. It doesn't matter who has more rights, we shouldn't be blind to senseless violence or torture. THIS is what it's taught people is okay. Sick, sadistic bastards are sick, sadistic bastards no matter who they vent it on. I'm just heartbroken it's escalated to a level where this has happened. What's next, people start to say, since homeless people have no income, are probably incapable of expressing themselves properly, that open hunting season is on THEM? This is an outrage. When will someone stand up and say that indiscriminate, or discriminate, violence is wrong?

Or better, when will someone DO something about it? I'm amazed with this country. Blinding ourselves into drunkardness, and then getting the best of the good-times before the barrel is pointed at us. THEN they act like someone had better move heaven and earth to help THEM. Unbelievable. It's the whole archtype of inferior. We've gone ahead and made the term 'animal' a kind of stigmatism, something it's okay to torture. Now we've bred a whole generation of whack jobs who believe that anyone, human or otherwise, who's considered 'lesser' is okay to torture. When will it end? When will people not say "well it's okay to be sick and torture people UNLESS". When will people set aside the right to torture?
