White House officials were expected to brief national security advisers to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) today, hoping to squelch increased opposition on Capitol Hill to approval of a port management contract for a company based in the United Arab Emirates, a senior GOP aide said.

2. Do they think Senator Conflict-of-Interest can quell the uneasy
feelings of the people of this country? He wasn't a lot of help during the Terry Schiavo fiasco and he did long-distance ESP-type diagnosis on her. The public didn't go for that (well, the crazies did) and they aren't gonna like this either.
