After a sharp note from anti-war mother and activist Cindy Sheehan to a Georgia congressman who dubbed her a "nutcase," the congressman has apologized.

Over the weekend, Sheehan responded to a blog post from Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA), who had called her a "nutcase" over her criticism of the Iraq war.

"How dare you psychoanalyze me and call me a 'nutcase!' Sheehan quipped. "How dare you call me a beatnik and lie about me in your blog!"

"This upcoming Tuesday, will be the 2nd anniversary of my son's death," Sheehan added. "Casey Austin Sheehan was a man filled with integrity and courage. He was a hero who never backed down from the right thing his entire life. He was an amazing person who did not hide when his commander in chief sent him to a war based on lies even when he knew they were lies. He carried out his duty, unlike his commander in chief."

2. Don't know much about this Jack Kingston fellow, but he sounds quite

a bit self-satisfied. He was presumably elected by the democratic vote of folks in his district, each of whom having no more responsibilities and privileges as citizens than Cindy Sheehan has as a voter and citizen in her California district.

If Kingston's apology was sincere, then good, because it was certainly owed.

There can't be too many GOP lap-dog Bush-kissin' Congresscritters who can stand up to the fiery turth-telling of a Cindy Sheehan.

3. Wait 'til Cindy reads this::

While you and I disagree on the war effort, I certainly did not intend to attack you personally. I have great appreciation for your perspective and your sacrifice as an American who has lost a loved one in the War on Terrorism.

Wow!! is he working really hard at being dumb, did he not read Cindy's letter talking about that very lie? Her son did not die in a war on terrorism. He died, as Cindy said, in a war based on lies.

He seems to want to keep up a dialogue with her. I think she should. He is clearly in need of an education and who knows, maybe he really doesn't know the truth! Rep. Jones (the freedom fries guy) came around and admitted he was wrong. Maybe this one can too, if he turns off Fox and Rush and listens to Cindy for a while.

But one thing Cindy has demonstrated beautifully. When the rightwing tries to bully you, you have to strike back fast and hard. Look how they back down when someone does that!

Why won't the Democrats do the same thing? She succeeds because her motives are pure, and even a rightwing jerk like him probably realizes that.

Kingston now owes Cindy another apology. He owes one to Casey, too, for dragging his memory through the dirt like that.

Tomorrow her and her family will be at the cemetary where her son Casey Austin Sheehan is buried.He died 2 years ago on 4-4-04.
