Bush in favor of Foley investigation

Bush in Favor of Foley Investigation

STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) - President Bush said Tuesday he was ``shocked and dismayed'' at disgraced lawmaker Mark Foley's behavior and supports House Speaker Dennis Hastert's call for a full investigation.

``This investigation should be thorough and any violation of the law should be prosecuted,'' Bush said while campaigning for Republican lawmakers in California.

Some, including a Washington newspaper, have called for Hastert to resign, but Bush expressed confidence in the speaker's ability to resolve the matter, calling him a ``father, teacher, coach.''

``I know Denny Hastert. I meet with him a lot. He is a father, teacher, coach who cares about the children of this country,'' Bush said. ``I know that he wants all the facts to come out.''

something about it like removing Foley as the Leader from the Child sexual exploitation committee...but he didn't.....he didn't contact the police......

Hastert has to go....

3. What a stupid waste of skin...
...I'm astounded that Junior McSmirkyton actually believes that his
opinion of someone, counts for anything.

Who cares what a lying, warmongering, worst-pResident-in-history thinks?

I wouldn't trust his judgment on what kind of laundry detergent to buy...why
in the hell would I care about what he thinks about important issues.

The man is delusional.

7. Precisely...
It's a fact that pedophiles often assert themselves into roles, such
as "teacher" or "coach"--to get close to kids--and to gain authority
over them. Abuse is more easily covered up this way, because parents
trust teachers and coaches and kids are often so confused when a
role model abuses them. It silences the victims--and that's why
perps are attracted to those roles.

I'm not saying that Hastert is a pedophile, but in my book--he enabled
a pedophile, and that's just as bad. Hastert knew that Foley was a
a raging pedophile and he allowed Foley to remain as the House chairman
to the Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Hastert covered up
pedophilia, and put children at risk--for political gain.

Who gives a damn if he's a "father" a "coach" and a "teacher". He's
all of those things and also a pedophile enabler.

9. Unfortunate descriptors on Bush's part. Teaching and Coaching are
the perfect jobs for pedophiles, at least until they get caught. Not that I am calling fat Denny Hastert a pedophile. Not yet, anyway. Just a pedophile enabler so far.

10. IMHO, Hastert didn't just know about that nest of vipers and do
nothing about it. He's ONE OF THE VIPERS.

More pages are coming forward saying there were SEVERAL Reps AND staff who they needed to watch out for!

11. Amazing. It appears that the WH doesn't have their act together on this
at all. Bush is out there trying to defend Hastert in a very clumsy way, imo. The Snowman yesterday first dismissed the whold thing as "naughty emails" before switching to harsher language (despicable, etc). But then he washed the WH hands of it and said it was all on the House leadership. WTF? Bush is supposed to be the leader of the Repoublican Party and unfortunately he is the President. Shouldn't he be demonstrating a little leadership here instead of kissing fat Denny's ass?

15. Bush 'disgusted' by Republican sex scandal
President George W. Bush said he was "disgusted" by sexually explicit messages sent by a former Republican lawmaker to teenage congressional aides in his first comment on the growing scandal.

I was dismayed and shocked to learn about Congressman Foley's unacceptable behavior," Bush said during a visit at an elementary school in Stockton, California.

"I was disgusted by the revelations and disappointed that he would violate the trust of the citizens that placed him in office," he said.

Bush said the law enforcement investigation "should be thorough and any violations of law should be prosecuted." He added that Hastert, whose handling of the matter has come under heavy criticism, "wants all the facts to come out."

Bush echoes Hastert's comments on Foley

By ANDREW TAYLOR, Associated Press Writer 2 hours, 6 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - House Speaker
Dennis Hastert won a vote of confidence from
President Bush and brushed aside any suggestion of resigning Tuesday as Republicans struggled with a virtual sex scandal involving a disgraced lawmaker and underage male pages.

Speaking at a Stockton, Calif., elementary school, Bush said he was "disgusted" by the revelations that Rep. Mark Foley (news, bio, voting record), R-Fla., had sent sexually explicit instant messages to a former House page.

"Families have every right to expect that when they send their children to be a congressional page in Washington, that those children will be safe," Bush said.

Hours after a conservative Washington newspaper called for Hastert's resignation, Bush referred to the speaker as a "father, teacher, coach" and said he supports Hastert's call for an investigation.

"I know Denny Hastert. I meet with him a lot. I know that he wants all the facts to come out," the president said........
